The annual CROP Hunger Walk will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Pecan Grove. Registration is at 1:30 pm. Pick up a donation envelope in the church office. Church World Service provides supplies, shelter, and education to those in need. Will you please donate this year? 25% of all donations raised stays here in our community: 15% helps our local Food Pantry and 10% goes to Joseph's Storehouse. You may also donate online at crophungerwalk.org/winfieldks. If you have questions, please call Sherry Pugmire, 221-1994.
First United Methodist Church is sponsoring a community-wide Bone Marrow Donor Drive. 12,000 people need a bone marrow transplant every year to fight and cure many diseases. The Peterson-Veatch family in our church is one example. FUMC is partnering with Southwestern, the Chamber of Commerce and William Newton Hospital to raise awareness and encourage new donors age 18-44 to register at https://join.bethematch.org/BeTheOneWinfield. We are also raising funds to support both the registry and Ronald McDonald House who have greatly helped the Peterson-Veatch family. The fundraiser dinner to culminate the donor drive is 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, Sept 30, at the High School commons. The suggested donation is $7 per plate and we will serve burgers, sides and drinks. All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House and Be The Match (the national marrow donor registry). Also, please call the church if you can provide cookies for the dinner.
